x Lab4Living
The Brief
Beyond 100
Having overseen and designed Lab4Living’s rebrand, we were really excited to be given the chance to put push some of the principles of the design that we had considered in its construction, and were only now starting to explore.
Lab4Living are internationally respected, and this was evidenced when the Hong Kong Design Institute, host of exhibitions from such great artists and designers as Dieter Rams, Henry Steiner, and Tim Yip, … as well as a successful home to design education in HK, invited Lab4Living to host their 100 year life exhibition at the institute, simultaneously with no other than renowned architect and designer Zaha Hadid.

The Solution
The team of curators, builders, managers and designers who helped us deliver an exhibition of over 100 projects, large products, and intricate digital interactivity, were amazing.
The exhibition needed an identity that built on Lab4Livings brand, but could be something that felt like an event in its own right. A secondary visual language was built from the same core symbol that is used in Lab4Livings logo, but adjusted and manipulated to firstly form the 100, and then to be constructed in such a way that it could provide a kind of language to the themes that were present.

The Solution
Lab4Living’s visual identity is built with a simple core symbol (view case study here), that can be moved and duplicated and reproduced to try and represent the many different facets of research, especially in regards to complex issues such as the human experience and health.
The Beyond 100 exhibition provided another opportunity to test this principle and build out an event identity, that not only announced the exhibition title, but was also built into the 5 themes the event was based around.

“We should be very proud of what we have delivered!! The scale of displays and the graphic treatment fits to the T! There is a sense of warmth and humanness to it. The quality of the production (graphics and constructions) are superb, and the exterior graphic treatment is excellent.”
